“Super Saturday of Sport”  was a free community sports day on July 1 at Stratford Park. The day was designed to showcase local sports clubs to help them find new members so they can continue to grow and thrive.

The day started at 11am with a mascot race and concluded at 4pm with some presentations by Councillors and key partners.
Super Saturday of Sport has been running very successfully since 2013 in West London with the event now attracting more than 8,000 people. Event organiser Kitsten Lonsdale from Super Inspired Ltd, stated  “We are aiming to build up Super Saturday in Stratford to the same level within a few years.  We will have a small business/food village to encourage people to stay all day and have healthy messaging throughout the day with pointers towards NHS services etc”.

Black Arrows supported the day, by providing visitors the opportunity to take part in Badminton and to receive coaching.  Head Coach, Henry T. Gaspard commented that ” the day was an excellent opportunity for Black Arrows to promote the Badminton sessions they currently deliver in Newham in partnership with Active Newham and the University of East London. The weather was lovely and hot, not too windy, making it ideal to play Badminton outdoors, we gave out lots of fliers and hope to recruit some new participants to our various sessions”.
